WASA Women Leaders Series: Deb Smith
Fremont County School District #21
The Wyoming Association of School Administrators would like to take this opportunity to shine the spotlight on the impactful women leaders that we have in our association. Our association is proud of their many accomplishments and we wanted to share a bit about them with you.
Deb Smith has been with Fremont #21 for the past three years as their superintendent. It does not take us long to remember the state of education three years ago. One of Deb’s proudest accomplishments deals with safety of her community. “During this time we provided a safe and nurturing learning environment for our students and families during COVID. We have 99% of our staff fully vacinated.” Her support and understanding of her community has allowed for the teaching and learing process to continue to grow and advance at Fort Washakie.
The WASA organization has provided Deb with a great group of outstanding leaders in education. “WASA provides support to all superintendents with varying areas of expertise. Great organization that provides support, inofrmation, and comradery.”
You can find Deb in her schools working with students and when she isn’t there, you can more than likely find her outside. Another career opportunity that interests her is working as a NOLS guide or in a National Park. “Being outdoors the majority of the day/week/year and travel to beautiful places sounds like a good time to her.
Thank you Deb for all of your insights and perspectives that you bring to our organization. You are a true champion for students and families!
