WASA Spring Conference 2018 Press Release
The Wyoming Association of School Administrators held their annual spring conference in Casper last week. The banquet Thursday evening was filled with recognizing education leaders from across the state.
Mr. Ray Schulte, superintendent of schools for Park County School District #6 in Cody is the 2019 Superintendent of the Year. He will represent WASA at the American Association of School Administrators national conference in Los Angeles in February 2019.
Representative Bob Nicholas from House District 8 was awarded the Von Dahl Champion of Education Award. This award is the highest award given to a person that is not a WASA member. Representative Nicholas was recognized for his efforts this past year for his leadership in K-12 school funding.
Teresa Chaulk was awarded the Byron Basom Leadership Award. Teresa has been the superintendent of Lincoln County School District #1 for the past 11 years.
Dave Barker, superintendent for Fremont County School District #1 and Gillian Chapman, superintendent for Teton County School District #1 were elected to serve on the governing board for the American Association of School Administrators.
Mike Hamel, superintendent from Carbon County School District #1 will replace retiring superintendent John Lyttle on the board of directors for the Professional Teaching Standards Board.
Jay Harnack, superintendent for Sublette County School District #1 was elected as the president-elect for WASA.
